Macassa DD321 Jumbo

MND Equipment executed a complex disassembly and reassembly project for a large underground mining unit at the Macassa Mine site. The unit was prepared on the surface and strategically segmented for underground transport and reinstallation due to spatial and logistical constraints within the shaft infrastructure.

Scope of Work:

Initial surface disassembly: The equipment was split into major modular assemblies to meet shaft entry and clearance requirements. This phase was completed over 5 days on-site, with careful labeling and mechanical isolation of hydraulic, electrical, and structural connections.
Underground reassembly: Conducted over 6 consecutive days, MND technicians reassembled the full unit underground. This included re-routing hydraulic systems, reconnecting power distribution modules, structural alignment, and multi-point function testing.
Crew Coordination & Safety: Work was carried out in collaboration with Macassa’s operations team under tight safety protocols and within controlled schedules to avoid disruption to ongoing operations.

The unit was successfully reassembled and tested underground within an 11-day total turnaround. This execution demonstrated MND’s capability to manage tight-schedule field rebuilds in confined mining environments, with full mechanical, hydraulic, and logistical support.
